Mr. Johnny Winter at the Fillmore East 1969

Johnny Winter and Chicago on the same night, no way, this was a must see for all and Blodwyn Pig to make the show even more sweet, you just had to be there I was hearing all three albums daily so to see the live show very cool for me!

Chicago was this group of musicians that all my other musical friends thought were (and to this day still are) amazing because they moved into a house all together to live and work on music, as they said, work on only music 24 hours a day, if necessary, to get it the sound and intermix of personalities to mesh and work as a whole, producing very tight musical cues, changes and textures not till then much heard on rock, so that was all good I hoped the live show could match the album very tricky to deliver just to hear the other members of the group while on stage was for most bands  the most difficult  if you can't hear what the other guy is playing you could be out of tune "which did happen with some of the power bands, they just couldn't even hear what they themselves were playing and no one else maybe the drums so off key notes wrong cues and the like " but not so with Chicago  they were rousing sublime and rocked house very hard with trombone solos right in with their hot guitar licks. Yeah man they are really far out !

Johnny Winter was the man of the night his southern slide, twang  guitar style is so very cool and unique  and you just must hear rock and  roll hoochie coo the man served up some hot and spicy texas blues and sheer rock sweating passion as with the other musical selections  just smooth tight harmony  this mixed with the raw real abandon as you can see in his pictures it was just he and the band with the music they were playing for that time the whole of his world was right there on that stage a "true natural force of nature loose in this house of music that was and is Johnny Winter" Then came something and someone I could hardly believe the man introduced his brother Edgar I think I remember him saying this is his new york debut but in all truth I was so blown away by Johnny all I was thing now their are two of them how can this be that thought  didn't last long because the man came out like the best professional of the day sat at the organ and with that band and his brother at the helm, they  rocked the house down and I do indeed mean "some down with it all rock and roll" as Edgar moved to other instruments, sax,  organ etc. and is a virtuoso with each as he sang while mixing in textures in voice and music  performance, truly gifted young men, a night I still don't want to forget.
